Accessibility and Architecture

At 1828, we design environments that welcome everyone. Our work brings together inclusive architecture, accessibility auditing, and lived experience to ensure spaces are functional, dignified, and equitable.

We support clients across sectors—from housing and culture to healthcare and justice—with inclusive design reviews, compliance audits, and guidance aligned with BS8300, Part M, the Equality Act, and emerging standards. We specialise in improving access for cognitive, sensory, physical and neurodiverse needs, and we’re proud to serve on the British Standards drafting panel for the forthcoming update of BS8300: Design of an accessible and inclusive built environment.

Our portfolio includes accessibility design for the V&A Storehouse in Stratford, Dublin Family Court, and inclusive design strategies for Bupa International. We also lead co-creation with residents, service users and disabled people’s organisations—ensuring design is not just compliant, but meaningful.

With over 15 years of architectural experience, we work across all RIBA stages, supporting project teams to embed access from the ground up. Whether auditing an existing site or designing from first principles, 1828 brings clarity, empathy and technical excellence to every project.

Past clients include: Bupa International, V&A, City of London, Office of Public Works.
