A core part of 1828’s inclusion work has been focused on conflict resolution; helping organisations, communities and individuals to address disputes and inequality issues at work and their surroundings. We have been volunteering our time and experience with The Society of Mediators as part of their Free Mediation Service to the public during the Easter Blitz at the Royal Courts of Justice.

The Free Mediation Service was established as a project in 2012 by the Society of Mediators - to provide mediation, free at the point of use, to all, regardless of means. It is available to people with, or without, legal representation - whatever the size or complexity of the dispute or case.

The Service treats everyone equally and helps people resolve disputes in most areas of law - except Family, Children and SEND cases. It has been providing free mediations to the courts, most notably in the Royal Courts of Justice, and it is widely recognised for its successful and effective work.

Since 2022, the free mediation project supports all court mediation nationally as judges refer matters to mediation - but the service is available at any time even if there is no claim issued or before the courts.
